Esophageal dilation is the enlargement of esophageal. Esophageal dilation problem is caused when esophageal enlarge. This is due to when your band is either too tight or it is placed in improper way around the junction of the esophagus and stomach. If your band slips up or if your band is positioned too high then esophageal become the pouch and amount of stomach being squeezed. When you eat food then esophageal will not push food properly and it stays over there. Cause blockage of stoma and also it causes dilation of Esophageal.
This is the common problem after lap band surgery. Most people are not really concerned about this problem. Less attention has been paid by people on this problem. But Lap band patients are more susceptible of this.
Complications of Esophageal dilation are perforation, aspiration, bleeding, painful swallowing, bloody vomit, reflux, heart burn etc. A hole will occur in the lining of esophagus and it may result with the bleeding. There are chances of having heart or lung diseases.
To get rid from esophageal dilation, ask to your doctor for replacement or losing or your lap band system.
