Dysphagia is the term used to when you are experiencing difficult in swallowing. When you are getting difficulties in passages of food (solid or liquid) from mouth to stomach, it means you are suffering from the problem of Dysphagia. After lap band surgery, pressure of band affects the esophagus and produce difficulties in passing food or any liquid item to the stomach. This is very painful and really it affects you. How long? It depends on how soon you recover from.

Some symptoms of Dysphagia means difficulty swallowing are finding difficulties in controlling food in mouth, inability to control saliva in mouth, coughing, choking etc. if you are experiencing such things then you should immediately meet to your surgeon. It has some affect like food or liquid going to wrong way in to the lungs, vomiting, reflux, vomiting may cause slippage of band and it may cause re-operation to set band at its own place.
