Lap band slippage is a condition where band slip through stomach wall. Due to this slippage there will bulge above the band and this will result the problem of nausea and getting difficulties in eating and drinking. There are types of slippage, Anterior slippage and Posterior slippage. In Anterior slippage, front part of the stomach slips past the band and in posterior slippage rear of the stomach slides up through the band. Due to lap band slippage stomach pouch which is shifted or twisted doesn’t allow food to go through ban in to rest of stomach. If you are experiencing pain, decreased in appetite, nausea, vomiting, inability to drink and eat, epigastric complaint, and discomfort then it would be the sign of lap band slippage.
You will get face the problem of lap band slippage just after lap band surgery but it takes some time of 6 months to develop. It develops slowly slowly. As the amount of your food intake increased, stomach start to stretch and it increase the size of stomach pouch which leads slippage of lap band later. Frequent vomiting is also one cause of slippage. Other lap band slippage causes are type of lap band use, eating solid food, technique used in surgery, fill of band, carbonated or sparkling beverages consumption.
