Solution for constipation after lap band surgery ?

Since after lap band surgery I haven’t ever getting a normal bowel movement. It’s really very uncomfortable seems to me. I don’t understand what are the reasons for this? And what are the solutions?

There are many reasons which prone to constipation. One of the reason is using medication prescribed by doctor. Large and multiple doses of pain medication lead the problem of constipation. Second reason is your food intake. After surgery for some time you take fewer amounts of food and drink. It disturbs your normal routine and you experience constipation. Food in and food out mechanism doesn’t work when you take less intake of food. Your normal diet has been changed now and this is one more reason for constipation. Nowadays you are away from your normal activities like running, walking etc and your spend most of your time on bed and this cause constipation.

Here are some solutions for constipation after lap band surgery. Firstly inform about this problem to your surgeon. Your surgeon may provide you medication for the treatment of constipation like stool softener or enema. Prevention is more necessary here as constipation is very painful and it has bad effects also.

Try to take more fluid and avoid caffeinated beverages. Just take water and juice in more and more quantity. If you keep yourself well hydrated then you can avoid the chances of constipation. Start eating higher fiber containing food. Taking low carb diet is one of the reasons for constipation but never try to take car diet in high amount this will alter your goal of surgery.
