Pregnancy after lap band surgery ?

I have passed 6 months with my lap band and I have decided to be pregnant. Is it safe? What are the precautions which should I take and what are the things which I have to follow? Are there any side-effects of this?

Drtomm 		Listen baby, 6 months is not enough for getting pregnant after lap band surgery. It is strictly advised to all ladies lap band patients to wait for at least one and half years. You body is now not in such condition that it support this. After lap band surgery your body is in rapid weight loss which is not good for you baby.

After one year, you can decide for this. If you are going to be pregnant after one year then you must loosen your lap band until your baby’s birth. This will avoid nutritional deficiency to your baby. Now you can eat food in required quantity so that you baby will get nutrient for this. Try to take vitamins, mineral and other nutrients enriched food. You should not go for lap band fill after your pregnancy. If it is possible then go for removal of saline from band so that it provides comfortable space for your baby. Drink plenty of water. You can make band tighten again after birth of child.

If you will pregnant now then you get chances to gain weight in rapid way and in addition to this you are creating trouble for both baby and yourself. There may be chances of death of your baby. So I request you to not go for this now, wait for one year. Be in contact with your doctors.

You will not get any problem with pregnancy after lap band surgery but for that wait for one and half year.
