Lap band surgery medications restrictions?

I was thinking about having it done. However I am not in a mood to be on bunch of medications and be in the pain all the time. So just wanted to know do the surgeons put on lots of medications. But I am also concerned about the risks associated with it. Can you tell me Lap band surgery medications restrictions?

Hate me 		Few medications can irritate the stomach and lengthens the timing of recovery. So , it is advised to follow to take suggestions from your doctor before taking any new lap band surgery medications. After the surgery many patients takes powder or bead-filled capsules with plenty of water. Tablets and lap band surgery pills might get stuck in the newly banded stomach. In order to prevent it from happening many doctors suggest lap-band patients to crush or dissolve tablets prior taking them.

Few common medications can cause stomach irritation following the lap band surgery. Few patients are able to intake this medications without any type of problems so, it is very important to consult your doctor for specific recommendations. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like naprosyn and ibuprofen, can cause stomach irritation. Diuretics also can create potentially risky potassium deficiencies post-op.

Also lap band patients must try to avoid pills that contain aspirin for about 48 hours after the surgery to lessen the risks of post-surgical bleeding. Some medications which contain aspirin include Excedrin, Alka-Seltzer and Vanquish. Still the bleeding can occur if patient’s intakes aspirin or any blood thinner after the 48 hours of operation. In order to reduce the risks of serious complications patients must stop taking all aspirin medications and blood thinners.
