Stomach flu is the swelling in the gastrointestinal tract which affect stomach, small intestine and digestive organs. It occurs when you take food which contained virus or bacteria. It is right that after lap band surgery you need to take less amount of food (only liquid) but this is only for 4 weeks after that you can switch to take soft food. Stomach flu doesn’t depend on amount of food but depend upon purity of food. This means food which you are taking should be pure and free from virus and bacteria.

This is not good after lap band surgery. Stomach flu results with vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, bloody stool and weakness in the body. Vomiting is not good for lap band patients as it may cause slippage of band and it is proven also. Lots of patients experienced band slippage after flu. You also get difficulties in drinking water. Try to keep hydrate yourself and call surgeon if you will get more problem.

To save out from this situation you should take pure food. Wash your plate and dish before every meal completely.
