Gastric perforation means tearing of stomach wall, small intestine or large bowel. This is generally happen at the time of placement of band or after surgery. A small hole made on stomach wall (rip in stomach tissue). This is the serious problem after lap band surgery. It caused after lap band surgery due to erosion of band, big lap band fill or there are some more reasons for this. Its symptoms are severe abdominal pain intensified by movement, nausea and vomiting, fever and or chills. It is generally found in 1% of patient.

It results with infection in band and in severe case death. It requires immediate another surgery to repair the tear on stomach wall to avoid the further complications. You should consult with your surgeon immediately if you are experiencing any above symptoms. It is observed that if you removed your band at correct time then you can get rid from the complication and stomach return to their normal state.
