Acid reflux after lap band surgery?

I would like to know how many people have acid reflux problems after the lap band surgery. As my brother is very overweight and he is planning to go for a lap band surgery. I have did a web search and came to know about lapband acid reflux problems. So, just wanted to know does after lap band surgery this acid reflux problem is common or can it result in other worst side effects?

This very surgery is the best way to lose excess pounds of weight and many patients opt for this surgery because it posse less risks and easily be removed. However it has less risks than stomach stapling, there are always lap band side effects. Usually people most complaints about lap band side effects are lapband acid reflux problems. Many patients who have had lap band surgery reported they have a problem of acid reflux after lap band surgery.

Lapband acid reflux problems occur when lap band slips out of place and forces stomach the acid up to the esophagus. This acid reflux problem causes symptoms of heart burn and chest discomfort. However some patients also feel symptoms in the throat and develop dry cough. Patients who have been tolerating solid foods without incident and all of a sudden experience acid reflux problem might have lap band slip.

Gallstone is another reason for lap band acid reflux. With the rapid weight loss, gallstones forms in the body. After the surgery there are much more chances of developing gallstone. Patients might face abdomen pain also along with acid reflux.

If your brother suffers from any problem of acid reflux after the surgery then he must consult his surgeon or nurse for some anti acid reflux medication. These medications will really help if it is taken as instructed.
